Subject: precolumbian foliage
Hi, all--
Below are line drawings of carved stone monuments from the Central and
Southern Lowlands of Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico. The drawings are
of people holding something that looks to me like foliage: maybe
leaves, pods, or blossoms. Can anybody help me identify botanically
what these plants are? (I apologize for the poor resolution on the one
example.) All the examples are precolumbian.
Suggestions of people to ask or sources to consult most gratefully
accepted --
