Call for Papers The Anthropology of Sport
British Society for Sports History Conference, Leicester, 17/18 April 2004
The BSSH invites scholars to submit papers for presentation to its 2004
Conference. There is to be a special session dedicated to Anthropological
Perspectives on Sport.
Papers which cover any aspect of the history and culture of sport in any
part of the world are welcome. Papers should be twenty minutes in length.
Papers from post-graduate students are especially welcome. The best student
paper at the conference will be presented with the inaugural Richard W. Cox
Award.
The final day of the conference will feature an invited panel session on
Museums and Sport.
The conference will be held at the University of Leicester on Saturday 17
April and Sunday 18 April.
Abstracts for proposals for papers (no more than 150 words) should be sent
to Dr Tony Collins at [log in to unmask] or to Margaret MacDonald Groeneveld
at [log in to unmask] by 1 March.
Cost:
Daily including lunch: £30.
Two days including lunch and conference dinner plus Saturday night
accommodation: £95.
Two days including lunch and conference dinner plus Friday and Saturday
night accommodation: £135.
Cost of the Conference dinner for those not staying overnight is £15.
Non-members should add £20 to the above prices. Non-members who register for
the conference will automatically receive BSSH membership.
