The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine offers a one year full-time (two-years part-time) MSc in Medical Statistics. This MSc is recognised as a leading MSc in Medical Statistics. Teaching is distinguished by practical sessions tailored to reinforce lectures on statistical theory.The course includes:-Core skills (fundamentals of medical statistics, computing, statistical inference, basic epidemiology and clinical trials, generalised linear models and survival analysis)Optional modules cover statistical methods in epidemiology, analysis of hierarchical and other dependent data, Bayesian statistics, bootstrap & computationally intensive methods, genetic epidemiology, and generalised linear mixed models, generalised estimating equations & missing dataStudents also complete a supervised research project in the Summer. Studentships from the Medical Research Council, Amgen and GlaxoSmithKline are available. These include course fees plus a maintenance grant of around £12,500. Applicants should have (or be expecting to obtain) a good first degree in science, or a related subject, or a degree in medicine. Applicants with an appropriate technical qualification and work experience are also welcomed.
