Dear Allstat,
I'm currently working on a project to develop a segmentation/clustering of
branches across a retail network and need some ideas on how to best
aggregate data up for the analysis.
The variables to be used in the analysis include details for each branch,
FTEs, no of customers etc, but also includes details of the customers who
visit the branch, age, gender, social status etc. I can accurately associate
each customer with the most appropriate branch so we don't have duplicate
customers across the network. However, I do have data at both a branch
level and customer level.
I need to be able to accurately capture the age, gender etc distribution of
customers who visit each branch so that these characteristic can be used to
differentiate between the branches. An obvious way to do that would be to
simply create categories for each variable and use the percentage of
customers in each category for each branch. However, this does not capture
the whole distribution in a single variable, and also make interactions
difficult to define.
Does anyone on the list know of a better way to approach this problem.
Your help would be appreciated.
