Two vacancies exist in CREEM.
You will form part of a team developing methods and software for modelling
and predicting animal distribution and abundance from distance sampling
survey data. Salary: 19,460-35,883 UK pounds per annum

Post 1 - Grade 2 - Reference no: SK58/04

This post is from 14 - 18 months over a two-year period in the first
instance.
You must have a research record in quantitative assessment of wildlife
populations and experience of estimation software development, preferably in
a wildlife population assessment context. The post involves extending the
capabilities of the industry-standard software "Distance" to incorporate
innovative methods, to be developed in part by you. You will be expected to
take some responsibility for management of project finances and will from
time to time be required to manage other research staff on the project(s)
for which you are responsible. Experience in budget and staff management is
highly desirable.

This post is for 2 years in the first instance.
You should have an MSc, or equivalent qualification in statistics or an
undergraduate degree in biology, maths or statistics with at least two years
experience using statistical methods. Programming ability is essential and
experience using the languages Splus or R is highly desirable. An interest
in conservation issues and/or wildlife population assessment methods is
desirable.
