The Candidate:
Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, or other quantitative
or health-related discipline. A Master's degree in epidemiology,
biostatistics or other public health-related discipline is strongly
preferred
Minimum of 5 years of statistical programming experience, preferably in an
epidemiology or health outcomes research environment
Role Details:
To succeed in this role the candidate will need a Bachelor's degree in
statistics, computer science, or other quantitative or health-related
discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of statistical programming
experience, preferably in an epidemiology, health outcomes, or health
services research environment. A Master's degree in epidemiology,
biostatistics or other public health-related discipline is strongly
preferred. Pharmaceutical industry experience, statistical analysis
skills, knowledge of research methods, and experience working with
automated healthcare databases preferred. Familiarity with all SAS
products is desired, including experience with SAS Base, STAT, GRAPH, SQL
and Macros. Knowledge of Unix and Windows operating systems, as well as of
structured programming principles and documentation procedures is needed.
Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal
skills are required, as are a high degree of self-motivation, initiative
and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as in a
team and to effectively manage multiple projects under tight deadlines are
also essential.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, the candidate will:
- Collaborate with epidemiologists in conducting and managing
epidemiologic studies utilizing large healthcare databases.
- Coordinate and provide programming, analytic, database management
support and consultation for global epidemiology database research.
- Utilize, manage and provide consultation and QC on internal
population-based databases, data applications and related tools, software.
- Provide QC support for research and programming initiatives.
- Assist in the evaluation, selection and acquisition of new observational
data resources.
- Investigate, evaluate and apply new methods, technologies and tools for
efficient accessing, processing, management, analysis and reporting of
observational research data.
- Develop, implement and maintain standards for computer program
development and validation, and for data storage, quality and reporting.
- Lead and manage technical projects. Liaise with IT staff, database
vendors and other external groups on technical operational issues,
database software development projects, and other database support
activities.
