Senior/ Principal New Applications Scientist - GlaxoSmithKline.
Greenford, Southeast England.
- Degree in statistics, computer science or related fields.
- Two years experience relevant experience ie within the area of Data
Mining Technology, which shall include experience in (i) designing,
developing and applying data mining technologies; (ii) developing complex
predictive computational models to extract hidden patterns from diverse
data sources; and (iii) designing, documenting and implementing complex
algorithms to solve data mining problems.
The New Application team in GSK Data Exploration Sciences are applying
their technical data mining skills to variety of projects in drug
discovery and development while pursuing applied research in data mining.
The projects range from data mining aggregated clinical trial data to
biomarker profiling of integrated biology data from various platform
technologies including genomics and proteomics.
As a Principal data exploration scientist, you will develop, evaluate and
implement novel data mining methods to extract knowledge from the data
generated during the different stages of the Drug Discovery and
Development (DDD) process; write, test debug and deploy complex algorithms
to solve analytical problems using non-traditional techniques derived from
the Artificial Intelligence and Statistical fields; create computational
models that explain and help to understand the interaction between drugs,
diseases and biological hosts using diverse data sources; test and
evaluate knowledge discovery technologies integrating medical knowledge
with data analysis technologies; analyze and interpret data within the
drug discovery context; develop unique applications for problem solving;
assist in data warehousing and mining efforts within Biomedical Data
Sciences (BDS) sector; manage projects involving the application of unique
technologies to solve problems in DDD process; and prepare, present and
publish relevant materials.
