Hi.
I want to make clear that I've been quite openly a member of this list for some time. It is after all an open forum, and the threads are all publicly available on the internet for anyone to see.
If anyone is familiar with my work, I have a pretty good record of exposing bad practice in equal ops in the higher education sector (and helping to spread good practice) -- its clearly a key issue in our sector, and of real public interest.
Keeping up to speed with best practice and current developments in equal ops seems to be entirely appropriate for a specialist journalist, and that's why I'm on the list. Surely its better to have the journalists on the sector's trade paper well informed rather than ignorant of what's going on.
If there's a real backlash against my presence, I'm happy to sign out -- but the list will have to become a closed one if you want to prevent anyone reading the threads on line.
If anyone's got any off list concerns or stories, I'm on [log in to unmask] or 020 7782 3298.
Regards,
Phil Baty

Colleagues, as you will see from the attached, the mail base is
not a place where we can have an open discussion of EO issues.
Susanna.

Susanna,
As a courtesy, I wanted to let you know that I'd picked up on a thread
on a web discussion list where you expressed your discomfort about Mdx's
admissions policies.
I'm making some enquiries to see if the university's policy is
unfair/discriminatory or not.
I hope this doesn't cause you too much embarrassment or difficulties
with your colleagues at Mdx, but I'm sure you'll understand that its an
important issue of great public interest.
If you have any further comments, don't hesitate to get back to me.
Regards,
Phil Baty
