I agreethat it should apply to older people and children. At
present, I am still catching up on my readings for the Vivacity
project and legislation. I hope to see you at the meeting.
Sincerely,
Marko

>> The following below may interest some of you and is free to attend for
>> those thinking of joining the UK Institute of Inclusive Design (UKiiD).
>>
>> Dear UKIID supporter
>>
>> As you may already know I have recently taken the Chair of UKIID and
>> flushed with excitement have set up a meeting for the afternoon of 14
>> January 2004. I do hope you will be able to come.
>>
>> In recent months we have not asked for your renewed subscription since
>> our activities have been rather quiet. Nonetheless, we would like you
>> and anyone else you know who might be interested to come along to this
>> meeting, without obligation.
>>
>> With the launch of the new Part M and accompanying Approved Document and
>> the first reunion of the BS8300:2001 committee's steering group, I have
>> invited David Petherick of the ODPM to join us. He has agreed!
>>
>> I have not asked him to make a formal presentation but suggested a few
>> areas for a group discussion. These are issues that have been raised by
>> supporters, around which it would be good to act:
>>
>> 1) The possibility and value of a new BS for housing
>>
>> 2) Ergonomic research and the development of design criteria and
>> guidance re children (including those with disabilities) - the starting
>> point being the ODPM's recent work on play facilities.
>>
>> 3) BS8300:2001and how it might develop over time - an opportunity for
>> UKIID members to make recommendations to the BS committee's steering
>> group that will meet again in early February.
>>
>> Our meeting will take place on Wednesday 14 January 2004 (2pm-4pm) in
>> the Planning Department meeting room (Guildhall North Block - 4th floor)
>> access for wheelchair users to the north block is via Guildhall Yard
>> Entrance in Aldermanbury EC2. Access enquiries to the Access Office 0207
>> 332 1995.
>>
>> I very much hope to see you there. If you can come we would like to
>> know for catering/accommodation purposes. If you cannot but would like
>> to raise points for discussion please drop us a line also.
>>
>> Regards
>>
