The Clean Environment Management Centre (CLEMANCE) at the University of
Teesside are developing a network of practitioners of Industrial Symbiosis
from academia, industry, and the public sector.
As you will probably be aware, IS is the concept of using ‘waste’ from one
process as the raw material for another, much in the way all ‘waste’
becomes food in mature natural eco-systems. As such it is one of the
fundamental principles of Industrial Ecology and other sustainability
strategies that use a natural metaphor.
We are holding a preliminary meeting at the University of Teesside,
Middlesbrough at 12:00, 14 January 2004 to bring together interested
parties and develop the agenda for ISNet.
Anyone interested in joining the network and/or attending the meeting
should e-mail [log in to unmask] by 7 January.
