Well, lets face it, you are never going to please everyone in an Island
like ours. My sister in law is moving up to Inverness in the new year
to a new job and having looked at how my family will achieve a visit up
there made me realise how difficult and expensive travel from south to
north and vice versa is. In some ways it would be easier and certainly
cheaper for us to go to northern France than northern Scotland.
However, that doesn't get away from the fact that travel from Plymouth
to Cambridge *is* very difficult. The most useful point that has been
made refers to the number of related meetings held within a given year.
My time is severely limited and I have to prioritise my excursions. As
an HBSMR user and someone currently working up a proposal to develop an
HER I would very much like to network more but the direct usefulness and
relevance of the many meetings held in the year quite often escape me.
Sometimes there may be a single agenda item of direct use to me but not
enough to justify a trip out of the office.
Perhaps Martin, we may seek benefit from a similar on-line 'live'
discussion meeting to FISH? Physically attending meetings is time
consuming and expensive and not always very effective.
