medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Can't be very helpful, but of course there is a famous letter by Pope
Gregory VII describing the scandalous behavior of Bishop Juhel of Dol, who
got his office from the previous Duke Alan (d. 1040). So maybe there is a
link? Any way, the letter is in Gregory's Epistolae vagantes, ed. H.E.J.
Cowdrey (Oxford, 1972), pp. 44-47.
Good luck
