My immediate reaction is that it is our role to identify sources and to
refer to them in the language in which they are written unless a translation
is available.
It is not our responsibility to provide translations.
I reckon the parallels for me would be modern translations of medieval/old
irish and medieval/latin,french and english sources, we do not translate
the names of sources, we use the language of whatever publication
(irish/english)exists.

Subject: Re: Bi-lingual SMRs
Apologies for using Wales and Welsh, my inflections are a little rusty.
While the case for case for a welsh (or for any other native tongue)
front end to a SMR seems incontrovertible I find duplication of data to
be rather odd. How do you decide which version of Welsh to use? SMRs are
based, mainly, on secondary sources and the majority of those sources
are in English. Do you translate the names of the sources? etc etc.
Thank you

I am interested in gathering information on bi-lingual SMRs or HERs.
Do
any of the Welsh SMRs or the Welsh NMR offer search facilities in Welsh
for
example, or are there perhaps any examples you are aware of elsewhere
-
Ireland? Belgium? Quebec?
Any experience you could share with me off list would be welcome.
