Dear Members,
following my initial announcement on 7th November we have received a
favourable response. However there are places left and I would like to
remind members that the event provides a real opportunity to network and
find out what's happening within our RM Community. If you are interested in
attending you can either contact me, or Sarah Emmerson who is coordinating
from the Diageo end ([log in to unmask]). Sarah and/I look forward
to hearing from you. There is no time limit although we would like to hear
from you before the meeting! For your convenience I have resubmitted the
details of the meeting below.
Many Thanks

Further Details
Our two main presentations focus on different challenges facing records
management. Sarah Emmerson is the Assistant Records Manager at Diageo. Her
presentation will provide an analysis of implementing ERM solutions within
a business environment. Sarah argues that this requires different
strategies when compared to the public sector because ERMS projects within
the commercial sector are subject to different push pull factors. She will
explore the catalysts for buying into ERMS, the problems faced by Diageo's
RM team throughout the project and the solutions which they have used to
overcome these. Sarah describes the experience as chasing a rainbow with
the ERMS representing the pot of gold at the end - come and find out if she
did get the gold! In contrast the presentation offered by Susan Ferguson,
Project Researcher, University of Northumbria at Newcastle, focuses on
impact which the ISO standard is having across all sectors. The project
aims to explore over a period of 2 years how the standard is being taken up
by different sectors. What is its value within the global e-arena, or the
extent to which it is applicable to national/local environments. Will the
standard change attitudes and/or influence behaviour and practice?
Importantly, what are its strengths and weaknesses. Susan, will set out the
aims and objectives of the project including why a project of this type is
needed in order to progress the RM cause.
Booking a Place.
There are 40 places available for the event. If you would like to attend
please email me no later than Tuesday 18th November. Diageo have asked for
a list of all names for security purposes. I look forward to seeing you
all there.
Many Thanks
