==================================================================
You are cordially invited to participate in EASED 2004 to take place at
the Northwestern Polytechnical University, located in the historical
city of Xi'An, China. The Europe-Asia Symposium in advanced Engineering
Design and manufacture for globalisation (EASED) 2004 scientific
programme will include keynote lectures, contributed papers and poster
presentations emphasizing all core areas of engineering design for
manufacture.
This symposium solicits both cutting edge fundamental research and
recent industrial application papers with a goal toward bringing
together design and manufacture practitioners from academics, government
organisations, and industry from Europe and Asia and other regions. The
particular focus of this symposium is on the understanding of the impact
of distributed design and manufacture on research and industrial
practices in worldwide, especially in both Europe and Asia. The aims of
the symposium are: (a) to become a major forum for the international
scientific exchange of multi-disciplinary and inter-organisational
aspects of engineering design, advanced manufacturing and concurrent
engineering; and (b) to provide opportunities in formalising the methods
and means to design and manufacture successful products in a globally
distributed environment focusing on Europe and Asia.
An initial set of topics for the symposium will include, but not
restricted to:
a) Engineering design in a global manufacturing context;
b) Comparison of engineering design and manufacture between Europe and
Asia;
c) Concurrent, collaborative, and distributed engineering design and
manufacture;
d) Industrial constraints for engineering design;
e) Engineering design and manufacture in Europe and Asia;
f) Design tools, methods and techniques;
g) Integrated product process development from concept through
production;
h) Product life-cycle modelling;
i) Design for X methods;
j) Computer-aided design and manufacturing;
k) Quality, robust design, and variation management;
l) Cost engineering in distributed environment;
m) Engineering design and manufacture education in Europe and Asia;
n) Product modelling and visualisation;
o) Design and application of advanced materials.
The selected papers will be published in a book.
