Subject: [DisabilityConvention] [danmail] join DAN's demo by email
Join the UK Disabled people's Direct Action Network's '2003 Charity Tour' protest on 27th 28th 29th october from home! Forward this to our supporters and allies world-wide so they can join in too.
"Dish the Dirt on Charities:- What about MIND and the National Autistic Society ?"
Say No to Charity and yes to full participation and equality for all disabled people. Rich disability charities have a highly profitable monopoly on money allocated for our freedom and everything which affects us. It's time to tell charities once and for all that we speak for ourselves and we don't need them!
Support disabled people in speaking out against this abuse and in taking control of our own destiny!
To join in, add your own message, and copy the letter below (if you wish), add your name and send it to the charities and to the government. It's easy, we have collected the Email addresses, they appear later in this message. technical support on how to copy part of an email are at the end of this message. Lets blitz them this week send as many times as you wish.If you cant make the action get on that email now, it only takes a few minutes!
Model Message to send to the charities.
subject - i used - "DAN's message to charities Shut Up and Shut Down!" but you can maybe think of a better one.
To:
I am writing in support of DAN's protest this week against the massive charities which lock disabled people away and add to our exclusion.
Its time that disabled people, not charities, were in charge of thier own destiny.
Its time for charities to go.
Its time that disabled people united and fought on common cause instead of the beauty contest that charities have created between impairment groups.
Its time for charities to move over.
Its time for disabled people to talk to politicians directly and not be shouted out by biased and unrepresentative lobbying from charities whose money is made by keeping us repressed,
Its time for charities to shut up.
It time for the government to properly fund disabled led organisations which are accountable to its membership so that the voice of disabled people and their agenda can be put before government.
Its time for charities to stop taking the money from the public and local and national government so they can lock us away for profit.
Its time for charities to take a long hard honest look at themselves and just GO AWAY.
