The University of London Institute of Education's new MA in Childhood
Studies combines
perspectives from the new Sociology of Childhood with an awareness of the
rights of children as a disadvantaged group in society. The course has two
core modules, plus optional modules. The first module, on Theories of
Childhood and Children's Rights, runs for ten weeks from mid-January to the
end of March, and introduces students to key concepts in the sociology of
childhood and the situation of children worldwide. The second module, on
researching and working with children, will run as a one-week intensive
course next July. It will include a public conference on 'Children and work'
on 28 July.
