Temporary 18 months appointment
A temporary appointment to the above post is to be made to cover for the
current jobholder who is to be seconded elsewhere in English Heritage.
In London, English Heritage provides a County Archaeological service
advising 31 local authorities on planning applications, major developers on
archaeological projects, and monitoring the quality of archaeological work
undertaken in the capital. GLAAS also manages the Sites and Monuments Record
for the whole of London.
You will assist the Head of Service in providing advice on the
archaeological implications of development to the Inner London Boroughs,
and other customers, through the implementation of PPGs 15 & 16.
With an appropriate university degree, and ideally being a member of the
IFA, you will be experienced in setting archaeological briefs and
specifications, monitoring of archaeological projects and advising
developers and local authorities on archaeological significance.
You must be able to handle a large work load and be committed to providing a
quality service to the public.
