What’s Happening with the Digital Library?
You are invited to attend a free OCLC PICA Update and Forum being held on
Tuesday 7th October 2003 at Edinburgh University, 09:30am to 13:00pm.
OCLC PICA offers an extensive range of leading edge products and services
for both library professionals and library end users. Products are
developed following extensive research and consultation with library
professionals and are designed for libraries of all types and sizes.
The following services will be covered:
netLibrary: the world's premier provider of electronic books (eBooks).
netLibrary supports the mission and methods of academic, public, special
and school libraries with eContent and delivery solutions that facilitate
research, reference and learning via Web-based technologies.
OCLC FirstSearch: a fully integrated reference service platform. Accessing
a wide range of databases, linking e-journals, e-books, web resources,
Library Holdings, and ILL. Learn more about WorldCat on FirstSearch, the
world’s largest bibliographic database and most heavily used reference
database by academic and public libraries.
QuestionPoint: QuestionPoint is a Web-based virtual collaborative reference
service and set of tools for libraries of all sizes. This service provides
libraries and library groups with access to a global network of
institutions, and a low-cost toolset for managing their virtual reference
desk.
Digitisation and Preservation: New tools for Digital Preservation:
CONTENTdm, OCLC’s software suite for digital collection management, offers
a complete digital content management system that can capture, index,
store, query, and display digital collections. Includes new multi-site
server software, which allows users to combine search results from multiple
remote servers.
