The School of Business Information is seeking a professor able to
co-ordinate and give cohesion to the school's broad spectrum of research
work. Ideally, an applied researcher, a 'thought leader', who is active in
the cutting edge of organisational transformation. An excellent track record
of research and publication is essential. Within the School the Information
Management group, hosts the International Journal 'New Library World'
through its Editor, Linda Ashcroft, with research work linked to e-Resources
& Health Information. Within the Information Systems Group, is the home of
the Stafford Beer Collection and there is a critical mass of researchers
working in Managerial Cybernetics and the implications for 'change
management' and for the design of information systems. The school is
particularly strong in applied 'action research' developing TCS/KTP
programmes with SMEs in the North West, with potential for significant
spin-offs in both teaching and research. Since the research specialisms are
rather disparate, strong consideration will also be given to two fractional
appointments (0.4 or 0.5) in the two specified areas. A 'job share'
appointment would demand ongoing collaboration to enable the co-ordination
of initiatives and developments The school could be flexible over starting
date.
