Central European University (CEU) invites applications for the position of
Executive Assistant to the Rector.
CEU is an English speaking graduate research-intensive university located in
Budapest, Hungary. Its primary mission is to contribute to the development
of open societies in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union
by promoting academic excellence, including high level research, and civic
commitment. CEU enrolls each year about 800 students from more than 40
countries, including all former communist countries. The teaching staff
consists of about 100 faculty from more than 30 countries.
The Executive Assistant to the Rector will play a key role in the central
administration of the university. The successful candidate will coordinate
the Rectorate staff and activities. His/her tasks will include drafting
university policies and taking minutes of Senate Committees and other
academic committees. He/she will provide daily administrative support to the
Rector and, when necessary, to the Academic Pro-Rector, and the Academic
Strong organizational skills and near-native mastery of English are a must.
Candidates with previous experience in university administration, in
particular in international environments, are particularly encouraged to
apply. Knowledge of Hungarian or other regional languages is an advantage.
Applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of Hungary will be
required to obtain a work permit. The compensation package includes a
competitive salary, plus other benefits (e.g. thirteen-month salary, travel
