Disability Capital
Disability Capital is a major initiative by the Mayor of London focusing on
the civil rights of disabled people in London. It aims to find out about
disabled Londoners' actual everyday experiences of living in our capital,
what barriers exist and to look at how best we can move towards an
accessible and inclusive city.
The fact-finding part of Disability Capital will include a survey of
disabled Londoners - the Disability Capital Questionnaire - and use of
existing and new research to find out how far disabled people are excluded
from mainstream life in London.
The questionnaire will be distributed in printed form, by email, and is also
available for completion online and as a PDF file:

Completed questionnaires should be submitted before 31 October 2003.
The results of the survey will form the basis of a report to be presented at
the Disability Capital Conference on 13 December. The conference will bring
together disabled people and decision makers to debate the issues
highlighted in the report and deliver an agenda for moving forward towards
greater equality for disabled and deaf Londoners beyond European Year of
Disabled People.
The Disability Capital leaflet gives more information about this initiative
and also contains statistical data relating to disabled Londoners, on topics
including employment and education.
