The Council for British Archaeology and the Society of Antiquaries of London are organising a meeting in the Society's Meeting Room in London on 20 October 2003 from 2-5.30pm to discuss issues relating to the electronic publishing of archaeological journals.
The meeting will consider three key issues:
(1) The potential for establishing a consortium of archaeological journal publishers which could collectively sell a 'passive' digital version of current journals to libraries etc.
(2) The digitisation and distribution of back numbers of journals, and whether a collective approach may again be useful.
(3) How far any current journals would want to develop electronic versions that take fuller advantage of the technology.
A final programme with details of speakers etc will be circulated nearer the date. There is no charge for attending the meeting, but space is limited and pre-booking is essential. Tickets can be obtained by contacting Jenny Hudson at the Council for British Archaeology, Bowes Morrell House, 111 Walmgate, York YO1 9WA, tel 01904 671417, email [log in to unmask]
