Dear Collin,
I am about to graduate with my doctorate in psychotherapeutic and
counselling psychology and hopefully get a job in the NHS. How do you think
individual practitioners such as myself can work against the type of
discrimination you experienced in the system? Obviously, this is something
that I am aware of and have been pondering on but I wondered in your
specific situation if any individual practitioners could have made a
difference and if so how? Regards, Sarah Supple.

Subject: The Chair of Hull and East Riding MIND tried to 'evict' and
'exclude' me and a friend from their AGM....

12/7/03

The Chair of Hull and East Riding MIND tried to 'evict' and 'exclude' me
from their AGM, on Thursday, 10/7/03, but I wouldn't be bullied and
frightened-off.

I took my video-cam-recorder with me. Mr Tim Durkin, threatened me with the
Police to remove me from a public meeting. I was with a young lady called
Alex Mason who had been abused by MIND and I wanted to express my concerns
to them about her and my own abuse by them, but Alex got really frightened
and physically shaken by the bullying and abuse by Mr Durkin and his the
rest of the Management Committee and Staff from Hull and East Riding Mind.

Alex, got so scared she was 'physically-shaken' by this abusive experience
that she felt that she could not cope and left the meeting, but they didn't
frighten an old DAN campaigner like myself. Also, Mr Durkin, who's a local
solicitor within Mental Health law didn't care how his abusive behaviour was
threatening and intimidating towards vulnerable disabled people. in trying
to abuse mine and Miss Mason's basic human and civil rights in threatening
'us' with the Police to evict and exclude 'us' from the local public MIND
AGM. I stayed in the AGM, but I was not allowed to speak. He made sure of
that.

I rang him at his solicitors office in Hull to ask for an public apology for
his abusive behaviour against Miss Mason and myself, but it is Saturday
afternoon on the 12/7/03 and I've received no written or verbal apology.

I will point out that Mr Peter Bates, National Disability Team contact him
at:- [log in to unmask];
website:- http://www.charitynet.org/~ndt/ndt/index.htm.

I'm sending him a copy of this email. I hope others will contact him in
'our' support on this very serious matter of human and civil rights abuses.

Also in attendance where Angie Mason, Head of Mental Health Services, Hull
and East Riding Community Health Trust and other Health and Social Care
Professionals representing the local statutory, voluntary and independent
sectors, including various management committee from the Mental Health
Action Group (MHAG), including the Chair who didn't 'speak-out' 'there and
then', about the abuse and discrimination by Mr Durkin and his Committee and
Staff against Miss Mason and myself. I will include all the MHAG Management
Committee within this email.

I hope that the Chair Mr David Glenister; email:- [log in to unmask]
and other Committee Members from this 'user-led group at MHAG take this
matter of abuse of Alex and myself of an infringement of our Human and Civil
rights very seriously.

I have contacted Angie Mason, through her secretary, Libby on phone, on
Friday to express my concerns and that as Commissioners who purchase
services from MIND with the local Primary Care Trusts, but have had no reply
as yet. If you want to support Alex and myself you can contact Angie Mason,
through Trish Bailey at:- [log in to unmask]

I have contacted National Mind and spoken to Jack Coy, Sheffield about the
abuse and discrimination I and others are experiencing by local Mind, but he
has passed it onto Jackie Fisher, but I've had no-response.

My local Hull and East Riding Mind office have no effective complaints
procedure and I've contacted National Mind, but at today's date have not had
a 'positive-outcome'. I have been awaiting response to my previous concerns
and complaints for over a year.

I will include a copy of this email to Jack Coy for further attention of
Jackie Fisher. I will also include both their emails and telephone addresses
for other to contact in support of this matter. Their can be contacted as
followed:-

Jack Coy
Local Mind Associations' Liaison Officer
P.O.Box 1944
SHEFFIELD, S6 3XW
Tel: 0114-232-2299
Mobile: 07775-731-340
email:- [log in to unmask] and

Jackie Fisher may be reached on:
01768-371485 or by email at:
[log in to unmask]

I would like to point out that I'm also experiencing abuse of my basic human
and civil rights by all my local public authorities. I'm excluded by my
West Hull PCT, Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust, Hull and East Riding
Community Health NHS Trust and Humberside Police and also my own local
authority East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

I'm being 'gagged' of my basic human and civil rights within all these local
'public-authorities' for campaigning for improved health and social care
services for Adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorders(Aspergers Syndrome and
Specific Learning Difficulties and also 'speaking-out' as a local human and
civil rights disabled people's campaigner, activist and educator, especially
for being a member of National DAN and the local Hull and East Riding DAN
representative and co-ordinator around the 'FREEOURPEOPLE' human and civil
rights disabled people's movement campaign.

I will include Miss Alex Mason email address within this email and I hope
that 'WE' both can gather your support in this serious matter of human and
civil rights abuses against myself and Miss Mason.

I hope you can support myself and Miss Mason in this local campaign to
FREEOURPEOPLE from all human and civil rights abuses.

I myself as mentioned is experience 'exclusion', by all my local public
authorities. I have asked Mr Mark Baggley, at Choice and Rights to support
me on this matter, but at today's date I have had no support from Mr Baggley
and others at Choices and Rights, Hull and as others are well aware actually
have experienced direct and indirect discrimination and abuse from this
local disabled people's organisation, in Hull. I have continue a dialogue
with Mr Baggley and other member and staff at Choices and Rights, even
though I have felt 'excluded' and been abused and discriminated by this
local disabled people's group for 'speaking-out' on grassroots
'silent -voices' disabled people's issues.

Alex Mason email address:- [log in to unmask]

I will also be sending a copy of this email to my present legal advocates Mr
Clive Yeadon and Mr Simon Ennals who anyone of you are welcome to contact on
my behalf.

Mr Simon Ennals:- [log in to unmask];
Mr Clive Yeadon:- [log in to unmask]

FREEOURPEOPLE

Regards

Colin Revell
