Great day was had by all at an event held as part of National Archaeology
Day. 10 youngsters as part of a team of volunteers worked under my
direction at a post-medieval site near St. Brides Major, Bridgend on
It was great to see that there are still a number of youngsters interested
in becoming our next generation of archaeologists. I particularly found
that involving youngsters in dry sieving can be as rewarding if not more
than excavation, for them.
This weekend fell on the back of the great success of Time Teams Big Dig.
I hope we see British Archaeology building on this years successes. If we
don't what a lost opportunity that will surely be!
