I have been reading these exchanges today with increasing exasperation.
While I acknowledge that anyone who feels slighted by a personal comment in
this forum has every right to defend themselves, this seems to be devolving
into petty bickering. Could we please return to a discussion of the issues
at hand? I might not contribute much, but I read every post, and consider
this list an invaluable forum.

Mr. Barford, you accused me of 'ruling out the possibility'. These are
your words, and my response.

That is beyond provocative; you are misrepresenting my position, which I
think is quite clear. I wrote:
I don't know the probability of the moat hypothesis being true, but it
is obviously much higher than those of LGM or Merlin.
Note 'probability is obviously much higher'. I did not rule out
anything.
UNQUOTE.
I will add nothing. Our readers can decide for themselves.
