--Archaeology and Television : Life beyond the Trench.--
Television has become the most powerful tool linking the public and the professional world of archaeology.
What is the nature of that relationship, what are the opportunities and constraints, what does it demand of
professionals, the viewing public, the producers and directors. What different forms of presentation are
successful, and why and to whom ? Where has it come from, is it flourishing and is it sustainable?
This One Day Conference and Open Forum will provide an opportunity for both professionals and the public to
engage in issues and dialogue with some of the leading practioners and participants in the medium.
The speakers will include:
Dr. Iain Banks (Glasgow University Archaeological Research Division).
Dr. Tony Pollard (GUARD. and Two Men in a Trench).
Mr Jeremy Cross (Director / Producer of Time Team Big Dig).
Mr Tony Robinson (Time Team).
The Conference will be held on the Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre,University Place,
Glasgow on Saturday, 6th September, 2003 commencing at 9.30am.
Entrance is free and open to all members of the public.
