The Annual Open Day for the community based archaeological project at Whitehall Villa will be held on 20th July. This is the last open day as the size of future excavations will be restricted to local volunteers with professional supervision - no more students.
The annual four week excavation is now in its third week and is producing many interesting features including significant probable 5th Century activity. The overall site displays continuity of occupation from the LIA to Anglo Saxon.
The Open Day is a worthwhile event both for professionals, amateurs and lay persons just looking for a good day out. Entrance fee is £5 for adults, this is all reinvested into the project.
