which of course is the version promoted by the detectorists themselves, "we
remove artefacts from archaeological sites and collect and buy and sell them
responsibly - but the ones the archaeologists complain about are just a few
black sheep". I too would like to know how those who say they are
"responsible detectorists" propose getting rid of the irresponsible element
which has always accompanied the development of their "hobby".
