Thomas, if it isn't finding text whose coding intersects, there isn't any text whose coding intersects in the text you've pointed the search to. Which may mean you didn't do the coding, or may mean you pointed the search to a narrower scope than you intended - e.g. just your memos. NVivo will scope a search very finely and you may not have checked that.
I'm not sure if you realise that there's a list for NVivo and NUD*IST questions - QSR Forum. Qualsoftware's listmaster gently directs members to go there for software package-specific questions. You can join it off the qsr website http://www.qsrinternational.com - just go to Resources. Or of course if there is a software problem, email [log in to unmask] (But first check that the software isn't doing what you asked it to do :-)

Subject: [NVivo] Boolean Text Search
Dear List,
I am trying to do a Boolean "Intersection" Text search of Documents in
NVivo (Documents -> Search All Documents -> Boolean Search -> Text
Pattern). Unfortunately, it always returns zero results, although the
document definitely contains the patterns in question. The "proximity
search" works as does an "OR" search. What am I doing wrong? (OS: Windows 2000)
Thanks for your help,
Thomas
