Subject: Re: When is a mile not a mile?
Dear Huw,
There is another useful source no-one seems to have mentioned:
International critical tables of numerical data, ... prepared ... By the
National Research Council of the United States of America ; ed.-in-chief
E.W. Washburn. New York & London : McGraw-Hill for the National
Research Council, 1926. Vol.1, p. 2-14. (Systems of antiquity p.14-15).
Glad you are back at work after last year's problems.

Subject: When is a mile not a mile?
Does anybody know of a publication/ web-based resource/scrap of paper
you'd be willing to share, that gives conversions from old European
measurements of the mile (e.g. Italian miles, German miles) to statute
miles/kilometres?
I'm sure I've seen something in the past , but can't remember what it
was.
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks,
Huw
