The market does provide benefits but not for everyone, as there always
'winners' and 'losers'- Even Stephen Byers has now stated that free market
economics hurt the poor
http://www.jusbiz.org/articles/freemarket.shtml
We can longer compare the free market against planned economies since the
fall of the eastern block. Surely one of the strengths of Economics as a
subject has been these comparative debates. I belive the critique of the
free market now has to be an ethical one - surely if the free market solved
all the problems in the world we wouldn't have environmental degradation
and global poverty.
anyway just some food for thought
best wishes
