I heard BCODP were trying to set up an accredited DET trainers training
course to standardise training practice and maintain register of approved
trainers through a national body in March 2003. I have not heard if
anything has been established yet although I have heard some trainers claim
they are UK accredited through several different places including
universities / learning centres. Will there be one standard UK body for DE
Trainers if there isn¹t already and what thoughts do people have on who
should make up this professional body. How do places currently become
authorised to give Œaccreditation¹ to their courses? With lots of
Œregisters¹ from companies, educational establishments, charities and
organisations with trainers training in many ways (and some not even clear
on social approach and related concepts) I find this very worrying.
