Dear List members
Just reading through our local paper here the Lancaster Guardian an
interesting article presented itself. Apparently Morecambe has been chosen
for a new film called 'Berocca'. From the write-up it appears that it is the
story of a "belligerent disabled medical supplies salesman" who journies to
Morecambe for a reunion with his ex-wife. The film takes its name from a
brand of effervescent vitamin C tablets that are consumed incessently by the
"anti-hero's young companion". A couple of things spring to mind about
"belligerent disability" and the phrase "anti-hero". Are we going to see yet
another film using disability to explain bitterness and belligerence? I hope
not, but it could be one to watch out for.
Rob
