As a Witch I would have to protest this further dilution of occult
terminology. I'm still trying to think of a way expressing the same thing as
"Voodoo programming" and "phase of the moon" as someone who has nothing but
respect for Voodoun and who honestly does believe the phase of the moon can
affect his hacking :)
However thinking of occult root-words made "datamancer" come to mind,
appropriate because in using metadata we make use of data at a remove from
the source data, and often only arrive at a conclusion after examining the
aggregate of what would at a smaller scale appear to be random. But then
perhaps datamancy is more what someone does when using google than what some
does with metadata.
