Our Political Pressure and the Archival Record conference (22-25 July) is
preceded by a small workshop whose brief covers: the identification and
management of sensitive records in government systems; the effects of
archival and other laws on the management of these; what has happened in
other countries (international standards and precedents); an examination of
the ethics and codes of practice that bear upon professionals working in
this area; best practice in the law
We have had a late request for attendance from two archivists at the
National Archives in Rwanda who are seeking a contribution towards
attending. Although we do have some funds for subsidising delegates from
the developing world these have already been committed.
We are very keen on providing an opportunity for these Rwandan colleagues
to attend the workshop (and conference) Have list members any ideas - at
this late stage - about whom we could approach for such sponsorship at
this relatively late stage? If any corporate bodies have funds available we
should be delighted to hear from you.
Please reply off list and do phone or e-mail me if you need further
details.
