medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
NB: X-posted to MEDIEVAL-RELIGION, MEDIEV-L, MEDTEXT-L
A very recent withdrawal from this coming summer's International Medieval
Congress at Leeds (IMC; 14-17 July) creates an opportunity for someone
wishing to give a 20-minute paper on any late antique, medieval, or very
early modern (through ca. 1500) aspect of EITHER Latin-language travel
writing OR other-language travel writing in relationship to Latin
texts. "Travel writing" occurs in a variety of formal genres; it includes
not only relations of journeys abroad and sustained evocative descriptions
of foreign parts but also non-narrative guidebooks for pilgrims and other
voyagers. The session is to take place on Tuesday, 15 July, from 11:15 AM
to 12:45 PM.
Proposals with paper title, proponent's full name and address and a short
abstract of less than 100 words should be addressed to: [log in to unmask]
and ***should specify that this is for session 609***. All proposals will
be assessed as quickly as possible. To view the main IMC 2003 Programme,

PS: The theme of the 2004 Leeds IMC is "Clash of Cultures". It is not too
soon to consider organising a Latin-based session or sessions for this
congress. For further information, contact me and/or see:
