Subject: FW: International survey on European collaboration in drug abuse
treatment research
Dear colleague,
Within the next two weeks, you will be receiving an emailed survey from
Bulgaria (BG) addressing collaborative research on drug abuse. The survey
is jointly sponsored by the Czech and Bulgarian Ministries of Health. Its
purpose is to gauge the level of interest among European researchers in
collaboration both within your country and with colleagues in other European
countries and the United States. This survey is a follow-up of a recent
survey of US drug abuse treatment services researchers addressing the same
questions regarding collaboration with European research colleagues.
I assure you that this is a serious professional survey. The Principal
Investigators, Dr. Tsveta Raycheva and Petra Exnerova, are officials in
their respective Health Ministries. This project was conceived of and
developed while both colleagues were participating in an international
services research mentorship program at the US National Institute on Drug
Abuse at the National Institutes of Health.
By participating in the upcoming survey, you and your colleagues will help
the European Community of Countries build its drug abuse research and
treatment programs. Results will help to inform policies and sponsored
activities to encourage international collaboration primarily within the
European sphere and between Europe and the US.
Regardless of whether or not you have ever participated in international
collaborative research, if your research addresses drug abuse treatment
services, your input is desired.
Our mailing list was assembled as best we could from websites and
professional societies. We surely missed colleagues or included health
professionals who are not in research roles. Please forward copies of the
survey you receive to anyone whom we may have overlooked. Likewise, we will
be pleased to delete you from our mailing list if this message comes to you
by mistake. Simply reply to this email and write "REMOVE" on the subject
line, and I will pass along your wishes to the investigators.
When the upcoming survey arrives in your inbox, please take a few minutes
from your schedule that day to complete and return it. Thank you in advance
for your consideration and support of this important research.
Sincerely,
Tom Hilton
