Absolutely...too often parents are ashamed and because of this are isolated if they have a disabled child. Serving as a presence and an advocate for the child and providing emotional support to the parents is essential if the parents are to do well. My nephew who works with autistic children tells me that it is often the parents who need the most interaction....Remember it is the parent who provides most of the day to day care for the child and if these people can be influenced the child's life will be much improved...
