Hi all,
This list has been an invaluable means for me to reach as many people as possible who are interested in disability studies. Last year, I received enough excellent submissions, including a number from list-members, to be able to organise four disability studies panels for this conference. Unfortunately, there is no real funding available, but if a trip to Wimington is at all a possibility, I really hope that you will consider sending a submission so we can make this year's conference better than ever!

Disability Studies encompasses work being done in a wide range of disciplines including, but not limited to, law, urban planning, history, sociology, education, philosophy, literature, health sciences, and religious studies. As well, significant work is being produced outside of the academy by disability rights activists. Papers (about 10 pages) or proposals (about 150 words) are invited from academics and non-academics alike that deal with any issues relevant to disability studies. In the past, multiple panels have been organised to reflect the diversity of work being done from papers that focus on the legal challenges faced by the disabled citizen to papers that focus on the impact of cultural representations of disability. Scholars from Italy, India, Canada, and the United States have presented their work at this conference in the past. Please send papers, abstracts, or enquiries to [log in to unmask] by June 15, 2003. If you have any a.v. needs, please not!
