If its's semi-natural why can't it be designated as something along the
lines of a SNCI, LNR or similar?

What is a 'fuel allotment'? Presumably an area of peatland or
woodland
with common rights?
If so this raises the old issue of legal landscapes like surviving
fragments of open field systems or commons. Maybe something for the
recently announced review of designations?

EH have refused to Schedule it, it cant be listed, it's not a park or
