Improving quality, increasing involvement: Making it real

This conference, organised by Shaping Our Lives, the national user
controlled organisation, brings together the latest experience on improving
the quality of support for service users and increasing effective user
involvement. It launches the findings of two major national user controlled
research and development projects based in six sites supported by the Joseph
Rowntree Foundation. It explores new ways of involving service users in
research and evaluation. It pays particular attention to the involvement of
black and minority ethnic group service users and other marginalised groups.
The emphasis of the day will be on small group discussion.

Jacqui Smith, Minister for Social Services; Jane Campbell, disability
campaigner and Chair of the Social Care Institute for Excellence; Peter
Beresford, Shaping Our Lives and Brunel University; Michael Turner, Shaping
Our Lives and De Montfort University
