Dear ALT members
The NLN Materials Team is pleased to announce the availability of an
online resource designed to help tutors make the best use of the e-
learning materials offered free through the National Learning Network
programme. Whilst this may not be of direct relevance to all
members (especially those in HE) you may be interested to view it as
an example an online learning staff development package. The issues
addressed in the package on how to embed the NLN materials are likely
to be relevant to any online learning.
'Using the NLN materials - a Practical Guide' can be found on the NLN
Materials website at
http://www.nln.ac.uk/materials/tutors/practical_guide.asp
The guide is presented in the same format as the e-learning materials
and by working through it tutors can familiarise themselves with the
way that the NLN materials themselves work.
It includes:
* An introduction to the NLN materials - what they are, how they
work, which subject areas are covered and at what level, and how you
can get hold of them.
* An Analysis Tool so that users can analyse their current situation
and attitudes towards e-learning.
* A Resource Folder that users can customise by choosing the sections
from the guide that are most useful.
Users can also download resources, such as Lesson Plans, either as
Word documents or in PDF file format - whatever is easiest for them
to use.
To use the Practical Guide online please go to:
http://www.nln.ac.uk/Materials/tutors/practical_guide/index.htm
If you wish to download the practical guide please go to:
http://www.nln.ac.uk/Materials/downloads/zip/practicalguide.zip
(Please note that the guide is 64.6mb and could take some time to
download)
Sheffield-based developers ACT e-learning (an ALT corporate member)
were commissioned to devise the Practical Guide in partnership with
City College Manchester and the NLN ILT Subject Mentors - a team of
lecturers who are employed part-time by the NLN programme to promote
the e-learning materials within FE colleges.
***Please feel free to forward this information to others.
