First comment on the remarks about the RC problems on pp 15/16, which are
not quite right. First, I think the RC limits (rate and number of files)
were always there, it was just that CMS were the first to push it hard
enough to see them.
Second, the schema change was, as far as I know, not made for any
particular reason, certainly not from our point of view. It was just an
unexpected consequence of the change to the new Globus version between 1.2
and 1.3. In itself it didn't actually do any harm, except that it made
everything backward-incompatible, and because we didn't immediately
realise it we got some RC corruption. Also the schema change came with
1.3, not 1.4 as the text says.
There is also a comment that an upgrade to a single Globus version
was not possible. In fact it would have been possible and might well
have turned out better. We went for the mixed release because we
thought it would be quicker and easier - which wasn't quite the way
it worked out!
