medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

<< For what it is worth, in my opinion the message to the list sent by Graham
Gould concerning reviews for the *Journal of Theological Studies*, though not
an example of scholarly discussion, is a perfectly acceptable and polite
notice that would a) help maintain the high level of intellectual discourse
in relevant journals and in our disciplines; b) provide an opportunity for
scholars (particularly, but not exclusively, younger ones) to publish; and c)
let an interested scholar get a free copy of a book on which they would
otherwise have spent a lot of money. >>
Thank you for this decision. I should add perhaps that I wouldn't have
contacted the list if I hadn't had some trouble finding reviewers for the two
volumes mentioned from among my usual list of reviewers for the Journal
(which of course I co-edit - I didn't make that explicit). So I won't be
making a habit of it.
Graham Gould
