A newspaper article this weekend pointed me to the
http://www.sustainable-prize.net/ web site, which advocates a "Nobel Prize
for Sustainable Development". You can sign for support
on http://www.sustainable-prize.net/sign.html. Who knows, one of you may
win it one day!

Abstract from home page:
The Nobel Prizes were, in 1901, the first international awards for
achievements in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace. In 1968
one addition has been made: the 'Prize in Economic Sciences in memory of
Alfred Nobel'. Since then, nothing has changed.
The world has undergone considerable changes since the 1960s. Concern about
the darker side of mass consumption and the use of fossil fuels has grown
since the Club of Rome published its reports on global environmental
pollution in the early 1970s. By awarding them who show the leadership to
really solve these problems, not the defeatism, but the innovation, the
technological advances and responsibility are set as an example!
In the spring of 2003 there will be a letter send to the Nobel-foundation
to ask them to consider a Nobel Prize for Sustainable Development.
Citizens, businesses, organisations and politicians all over the world are
invited from this day to add their name to the letter on this internet-site.
This initiative comes from Dutch Member of Parliament Van der Ham, British
Member of the European Parliament Davies, former youth-representative for
the UN Ingrid Aaldijk and US-congresman Greenwood.
