Haven't we always had to use an invigilator as well as a reader? We've used 2 people in each separate room as long as I've been doing this job. and yes, it is a nightmare.

I agree.  But what does everyone do about separate rooms, when you have
more than one student needing reading support for the same exam?  A
Joint Council notice issued in January stated that several such
candidates could be accommodated in the same room with one reader, but
to my mind this could disadvantage candidates.

It would be an enormous help if they could sent out some individually
packed
papers as a matter of course (or even all of them - then the students
could
open them..).  Some Boards are already packing papers in 5 and 10's - so
this would just be an extension of this procedure.

I come in early and ask my staff to if possible, I do all the opening of
papers, copying on coloured paper etc, awarding bodies sending separate
papers would be excellent, as you know and I know that will never
happen.
