Subject: Re: AQA resits and BUS4 results
Hi Tim
I quite agree with your views, I realise the reasoning behind all this but
felt AQA should have informed centres so that students had the choice to try
for January.
I actually think it may work in their favour that they have waited now I
have looked at the sample material.
My results for paper 4 were very disappointing and I am now sure I have made
the decision to revert back to Nuffied.
How did anyone else fair with paper 4 in January??
Claire
Actually our Unit 4 results were OK, from what is a pretty mixed ability
group. A couple narrowly failed, but I've advised them not to retake as I
think they'll be better off concentrating on the much smaller amount of
content for Unit 6. At the other end of the scale, 5 of our 16 achieved
grade A, which was more than I expected. It helped that the translation
from actual mark to UMS was fairly generous, although that reflects what a
lot of us thought at the time about the demands of the paper.
As for the Unit 3 retake, although I've yet to look at the sample material,
I'm not unhappy about the change. Having seen the specimen paper, the style
of questions looks much the same as previously, and I'd like to think our
students will benefit from being able to apply SWOT, legislation, start up,
etc beforehand.
Cheers
David
