I thought that the church's stand was that since she was given the choice
between recanting her faith or dying by flame (as opposed to some other
female martyrs who were given "die or be married/deflowered"), she was
correct in choosing death "as it would lead to everlasting life with God"
vice recanting and "suffering the flames of hell".
(I'm paraphrasing like crazy, as you can tell.)
