Dear friends,
I recieved an e-mail a couple of weeks ago from John Westaway
([log in to unmask]) who is responsible for Education for Sustainable
Developent at QCA. This was in response to my discussions with QCA about
the lack of links to Business/Economics education to ESD and Citizenship.
Well it looks like we are getting somewhere (please respond to him
personally but I would love to see carbon copies):
"We were in contact a while back about business studies/economics and ESD.
It will probably not come as a great surprise to you that an audit that
we've just completed of current and prospective case studies on the ESD
website has revealed that of the three main foci of ESD, it is the
'economic' that is least well represented among our case studies.
We are also a bit short on case studies representing the 14-19 phase, which
I guess is where most business studies/economics type things take place, so
such case studies may kill two birds with one stone.
I wondered if you could suggest any schools/colleges that may be able to
contribute a case study of ESD in the context of business studies/economics.
The writing up of the case study can either be done by teachers at the
school (we can offer a modest bit of teacher replacement funding - normally
half a day - £72.50) or by yourself if you have been working with the
school (in which case the teacher replacement funding can become a small
fee to the organisation.
I attach a template for the writing up of the case study(ies) if you think
you have anything that may be suitable.
I look forward to hearing from you.
John"
